Dancing!

On Wednesday night Carrie Hodges led us in some good old fashioned line dancing. We were amazed at how many people participated. In fact, every single camper took part in the dancing. This was a good get-to-know-you event because it allowed campers to talk to other campers that they may not have had a chance to get to know yet. It was also very hot, just like every other activity thus far at camp, so water was on hand and everyone drank plenty of it. Camp Olympics and Hawaiian Luau

On Tuesday evening all campers participated in the camp olympics. There were 7 teams of campers, and each team ran from station to station participating in challenging Olympic-type sports and contests headed up by a pair of counselors. Some of the stations included obstacle courses, egg tosses, Bible trivia, puzzle assembly, and “make John and Art laugh” in which the team was rewarded for making both John Beecham and Josh Clemens laugh at the same time. Monday

Monday was the first full day of camp, and it allowed campers to get into the groove of the schedule and the way camp is structured. The staff started the day with the obligatory cup or two of coffee during the morning meeting, which was accompanied by the soft pitter-patter of rain on the roof of the screened-in porch. After discussing our plans for the day and getting ourselves mentally into the role of counselor, we prepared ourselves spiritually by meeting the campers for morning prayers.
