This trailer was created in order to whet your appetite for the soon-to-be-distributed 2009 camp video. We’re not exactly sure how we’re going to distribute it yet. It is 2 DVDs, the first being camp footage and photos from Friday night and Saturday, and the second being No Talent Night. We had arguably one of the best ever camps this year, but now it is time to return to our regular lives. Campers were given packets upon departure containing prints of the official camp photos, a series of challenge questions and checklist, and a CD containing pdfs of the prayer walk quotes, teaching materials, contact lists, almost 300 photos from camp, and a 12 minute video clip of the Rivervaledance and singing Be Thou My Vision at the nursing home. Wednesday night was dancing night. In years past it has been purely square dancing. This year we thought it would be neat to switch it up a bit and change the theme to Irish river dancing. You could call it Rivervaledance night. Here is a very nice photo set of the dances:
This is a video from camp day 1 of staff shaving their heads into mohawks in preparation for the campers to arrive the next day.
On Thursday morning we went as a group to Mitchell Manor, the local nursing home about 10 minutes from camp grounds, to sing some songs and play some bingo with the residents. The residents could not have been happier. We were very impressed with the way the campers integrated with everyone and so was the staff at the Nursing Home. We were there for about 2 hours. Here is a photoset from the visit, and hopefully we’ll be able to post video from the singing.
And it’s a doozy! Josh Clemens flips a stack of cones into another stack of cones held by Caleb after the Camp Olympics. He gets it on the second try!
We mentioned the Camp Olympic games a few blog posts ago but we didn’t have any photos. Well we came across some, so here you go. Also, keep an eye out for a post with video footage from camp – actually posted while camp is still going on, which is a first.
